The Edge Magazine
Features
Through the fall semester of my senior year (December 2021), I have dedicated much of my college experience to The Edge, Elon’s fashion and lifestyle magazine. I am grateful for my time at The Edge, and the lessons that I have learned throughout my tenure as features writer then editor are invaluable.
Print Issues
The Edge is Elon University’s student-run fashion and lifestyle magazine. We operate mostly digitally, but each semester, we produce a thematic print magazine that Edge staff can pitch to be a part of. The print magazine is a special opportunity because of this extra level of curation and the opportunity to work with a staff designer. Below, view my contributions to the last two print issues.
Fall 2021
The theme of this issue is “A Moment of Color,” emphasizing the fun and colorful aspects of life, even during the most hopeless of eras as new COVID variants continue to emerge and threaten our ways of life. As such, this issue is a party—a celebration for life. My article speaks on the power of glamorizing one’s own life while maintaining a balance with harsh realities.
Spring 2021
The theme of the Spring 2021 issue is “A Breath of Fresh Air,” a positive take on change, reflecting on the last year of the pandemic. My article speaks on the digital activism that arose this year in connection to the pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement and more. The page design was done by Courtney Clayson.
Fall 2020
The theme of this issue is “Let’s Get Uncomfortable,” which took us out of our comfort zones to speak on topics that we might otherwise avoid for the sake of not rubbing anyone the wrong way or making ourselves ill at ease. It’s these topics that are most important to discuss, and this issue is dedicated to such. My article speaks on individuals in the Elon community who are defying stereotypes and expectations on the basis of their identities.
